In addition, by regulating and reducing the air temperature, it also increases the reliability of an engine by keeping the AFRs (Air Fuel Ratios) in each cylinder at a safe level; this in-turn, can\u003cstrong\u003e increase an engines power\u003c\/strong\u003e due to the air being cooler. A bigger bang is then created within the cylinder, providing the correct amount of fuel is added. This can equate to an increase in BHP and torque. In addition, by regulating and reducing the air temperature, it also increases the reliability of an engine by keeping the AFRs (Air Fuel Ratios) in each cylinder at a safe level, which in turn can increase an engines power due to the air being cooler. The Mini Challenge JCW class use a homologated Forge Motorsport intake, which utilises the cold air feed from the scuttle panel to maximise the density charge of air entering the turbo intake.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nFMINLD3 was developed specifically for \u003cstrong\u003eRHD applications\u003c\/strong\u003e. Whilst it is compatible with the LHD scuttle panel, there is minimal functional benefit when fitted to LHD vehicles, due to a blank located directly beneath the designated mounting area. We are currently exploring the possibility of a template for quick and easy \u003cstrong\u003emodification to the LHD scuttle\u003c\/strong\u003e, which would allow airflow to be channeled towards the induction inlet more effectively. After extensive testing, we found that our carbon fibre canister filters worked the best. The filter element itself is provided by Pipercross, and is fully serviceable or replaceable if necessary. The next instalment, is the release of FMINDK43 the new upper airbox for the Yaris GR.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eAfter continued testing and discussions with owners of Yaris GR’s, the stock airbox has proven itself to function well, especially with the stock map. However, the weakness in the airbox is most definitely the quantity and directional flow of the air. As such, we explored several different avenues, before settling on a replacement upper airbox that mounts to the stock lower. When used in collaboration with the \u003cstrong\u003eForge Motorsport Inlet Duct (\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/hamptontuning.net\/products\/toyota-yaris-gr-inlet-duct-fminld1\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eFMINLD1\u003c\/a\u003e)\u003c\/strong\u003e performance car part, it ensures a consistent cold feed of air into the lower airbox that can then be delivered into a refined upper airbox. The increased diameter from 80mm of the stock inlet pipe to 89mm produces a \u003cstrong\u003evolumetric increase of around 20% \u003c\/strong\u003ein just the connecting pipe from turbo inlet adapter to the airbox alone. To test this in real world conditions, we created a modular design that was 3D printed and allowed for different variations of MAF position, diameter, and airflow to be tested on road and the dyno. After finding the \u003cstrong\u003eoptimum design\u003c\/strong\u003e, we then reprinted the full prototype and left this on the vehicle. This allowed us to continue our testing to prove out the performance repeatability in real world driving conditions. Once coupled to this intake we have been able to ensure a smooth airflow from filter to turbo with minimal restrictions by continuing the 89mm diameter for a large proportion of the inlet tract. It is designed in a similar way to a conventional velocity stack by routing the air more directly into your turbo charger and allows more air to be compressed due to its larger capacity. We ran a total of 8 different prototype variations of MAF height, MAF distance from entry and inlet diameter to ensure that the best solution was used. You can see how sticking to the stock size diameter and MAF position with the cone filter produced a slight improvement to the wheel horsepower, however when increased to 89mm we were able to produce some fantastic gains from such an easy to install bolt on modification.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cimg alt=\"\" class=\"center-block\" src=\"https:\/\/www.forgemotorsport.co.uk\/userfiles\/images\/sys\/products\/Toyota_Yaris_GR_Upper_Airbox_Induction_Kit_56086.png\" style=\"height: 699px; width: 600px;\"\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eAnother important observation to note is where the power is delivered. As you can clearly see on the dyno graph that the engine produces a much higher power earlier into the rev range. From 2000rpm to 3600rpm the lower flap in the airbox is opened via a solenoid, and the dyno graph shows that at the same rpm there is an increase of around \u003cstrong\u003e15- 20nm of torque \u003c\/strong\u003ewith \u003cstrong\u003eFMINDK43 \u003c\/strong\u003einstalled compared to stock.
